Highwood USA (Located in Tamaqua and Hazleton, PA) is a part of Premier Outdoor Living, an entrepreneurial manufacturer that produces products for the outdoor living space. POL consists of 3 unique business, Spa cabinets, HDPE Lumber, and Outdoor Furniture.  We operate 3 facilities, 2 in Pennsylvania and 1 in Wisconsin that support the three business.

Position Summary:

Successful Electromechanical Maintenance team members enjoy the challenges of working in a fast paced, team oriented environment while safely completing the processes associated with preventive maintenance and troubleshooting, repair, installation & maintenance of a wide variety of production and plant equipment. The scope includes working with mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic devices and systems. Electromechanical technicians strive to provide a safe working atmosphere for all Highwood employees by assuring all requirements for compliancy are met and kept up to date, and equipment meets internal regulatory standards. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Perform all types, levels, and frequencies of Preventative Maintenance on all production equipment and some support equipment independently.

  • Develop effective Preventative Maintenance Checklists where applicable.

  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment failures of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic nature independently.

  • Communicate the status of an assignment and the requirements to complete the job accurately.

  • Assist with installation of new equipment.

  • work as a team in a team environment and meet deadlines

  • Use PCs to communicate, troubleshoot, upgrade, or reprogram equipment, and independently facilitate shift hand-offs.

  • Diagnose problems with PLC’s and complex control systems.

  • Proficient knowledge of HVAC troubleshooting and solutions.

  • Assist with design, assembly, and installation of electromechanical equipment.

  • Maintain inventories which include preparing requisitions for spare parts and required maintenance supplies as directed.

  • Read, interpret and work from drawings, layouts, inspection manuals, sketches, blue prints, schematics and wiring diagrams & verbal instructions.

  • Install electrical or electronic parts and hardware in housings or assemblies, using soldering equipment and hand tools.

  • Analyze and record test results, and prepare written test documentation.

  • Support all departmental initiatives and goals and carry out action items accordingly.

  • Flexible to complete overtime when needed: weekend coverage, weekend on-call as needed, vacation coverage, call-offs, emergent repairs, etc

  • Record failures and work activities as daily standard work.

  • Competently operate all equipment as needs.

  • Follow all shop practices.

  • Practice safe work habits and comply with Federal, State and Municipal guidelines including but not limited to Lock Out Tag Out, Arc Flash, Haz Mat, Confined Space, as well as internalized safety standards set as Highwood procedures.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience                                           

Associate degree or Certificate in a related field, four years related experience performing maintenance in an industrial manufacturing environment, specialized training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills                                          

Able to comprehend & communicate in the English Language to perform the duties of this position

 

Mathematical Skills                                                

Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Possess the ability to accurately read a tape measure, dial calipers and micrometers.

Reasoning Ability                                                   

Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud and PPE is required. Appropriate hearing protection while in the plant is required as noise levels within the facility meet OSHA requirements for hearing protection equipment. Electrical and mechanical dangers will frequently be present and the employee is required to take appropriate safety measures to protect themselves and others at all times from injury. Other dangers will be present from time-to-time when lifting, hoisting, moving and installing equipment, and the employee is required to take appropriate safety measures to protect themselves and others at all times from injury. The employee will be working in close proximity of rotating machinery, grinders, welders, various types of saws and cutters, where they will be required to take the appropriate safety measures to protect themselves and others at all time from injury.
