Raw material Processing(Compound) Technician - 3rd Shift - 10:50pm to 7:10am $21.73/hr
Highwood USA (Located in Tamaqua and Hazleton, PA) is a part of Premier Outdoor Living, an entrepreneurial manufacturer that produces products for the outdoor living space. POL consists of 3 unique business, Spa cabinets, HDPE Lumber, and Outdoor Furniture. We operate 3 facilities, 2 in Pennsylvania and 1 in Wisconsin that support the three business.
This position will be based in Tamaqua, PA.
Position Summary:
Successful Compound Technicians enjoy the challenges of working in a fast paced, team oriented environment while safely completing the initial manufacturing process with our raw materials handling quality checks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Ensure correct materials in appropriate quantities are supplied to the production lines.
Successful and timely completion of line/equipment starts up
Ability to operate compound lines in accordance with established procedures.
Capability to perform color changeovers
Knowledge and understanding of quality specifications to successfully complete quality checks on incoming raw materials and compound
Ability to accurately compare color to quality control standards.
Complete adjustments to compound lines in order to maintain adherence quality standards and productivity of lines including both equipment and process adjustments.
Maintains equipment by performing daily and weekly PM’s.
Perform basic maintenance tasks such as repairs and replacement of parts
Basic maintenance such as inspection, care and cleaning of equipment
Participation in continuous improvement projects/teams
Complete and accurate documentation of production run conditions, and other key data
Ability to learn and use a computer at a basic level
Forklift operation
Troubleshoot equipment and process issues
Move finished product to assigned storage space
Maintain a clean orderly work environment
Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Extrusion experience a plus.
Language Skills
Able to speak, read, write and comprehend in the English Language to perform the duties of this position.
Mathematical Skills
Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud and PPE is required. Appropriate hearing protection while in the plant is required as noise levels within the facility meet OSHA requirements for hearing protection equipment.
